  1. Mr. Dave, Happy Birthday!, hope you have a great day

  2. Setback Question- How much and why?

Dennis....have you ever run an xr6 case?? Just curious if you saw the same differences across the board that I did?? Which CLE were you running?? (2 hole or 4 hole) You gonna be at the get together on the 24th?? Trying to get my crowd motivated but its a long drive for us. not sure what cle dennis as run but i know they do blowout alot easyier than a sportmaster they do run good with a cone on them then you can run them up little and not worry so much about blowout i have never ran a cle on my boat i don't think it would run for shit wanted to try a xr case but have been conveinced not to by serveral people as they are a weak case and break very often and don't want to take that ride. mike you should try to come down if you want to fly in to mai or ft lauderdale i can pick you up it's only about 1.5hrs from the airport to where we are going to run let me know keys dave Thanks Dave. Pretty sure we're coming. How close to the bank will yall's runs be? Curious as to whether I need to bring a boat?? I dont think you would have a problem with an xr6 as long as you started with a good case. I run a lot of nitrous and have had only one give up. It was minor and just wouldnt stay in gear. If you do decide to run one let me know I've got a prop that was built for an xr6. Thanks again. mike i am pretty sure you will be able to see good from land if not i am sure there will be enough boats that everyone can catch aride out with will look for a good location on friday when i get there, the weather is going to be nice a little warm but i think no wind will see what happens. see you there keys dave

  4. EGT, too hot and why?

send your box to someone with a 4 botton tester or a ddt and have them set it at 99 witch is stock for the a48box and you will no i am sure someone you how has a ddt to set it for you that would be the easy way to do it.keys dave
  5. Setback Question- How much and why?

CLE'S i have found that these boats run better with a sportmaster or any other case besides a cle unless you put a nosecone on it i think the cle is to short they seem to run 4to 6 mph faster with a sportmaster.keys dave fish i will see you at the top end runs this weekend a look at your setup and give you my advice. also i talked to pete with the person triad he is bringing it down to the keys this april and i am going to help him with his setup and get him running so stay tuned for news on that also thanks keys dave
  6. STV RR Fuel Tanks

I have them built out of 1/8 alum with a aroe fuel cap and all the fittings are weld in the way stv's fuel tanks are suck you can't get fuel in them if you use the fuel fill that they put in it pissed me off when i got my new hull they drilled and hooked up the fuel fill and now i have a fuel cap there in the back that i don;t even use also there fuel pickup in those tanks are engine blowers that 90 degree fitting is no good. I think the tanks cost us around 700.00 for everything witch is alot but they are built very well and have never had a problem and this is my third one. the weight is very heavy witch i don't really like but has not hurt anything i think a super light boat is not as fast as a standard weight boat they seem to ride a lillte to light for my likeing not that you really will notice a big difference in speed you just feel it in handeling. keys dave
  7. Setback Question- How much and why?

So your saying I should be running 120. I have a 91 pro comp, 91 260 stock, foam still in the boat 6'' set back driver weight 220lbs CLE lower unit 1.87 gears 28 pp prop 115 mph unsure of the rpm it was the first time I ran that fast in this boat. I believe the boat can run faster, but I haven't tried another prop yet. Also what engine height should my motor be at. my buddy freddy goes by pro comp 260 runs i think a 93 procomp with a 20in bass mid mounted to the transon at 1 1/4 in and a stock 260 and he has been running 124 to 126 depending on the day for about 8yrs it is very inpressive to see.he also runs and 14.5 32 cleaver the pro comps do run good but i just don't like the looks of there cap like the riverrocket the best.and think the mvp deck are probally the fastest deck but are not very nice to go to the beach or ride around in for very long at least not down here in the heat. thanks keys dave
  8. STV RR Fuel Tanks

If you can't get one from the factory let me know my buddy has the tank out of his rocket and i know he whats to get rid of it cheap we don't us those tanks we have are tanks custom made for are boats down here 32gal with a 3in sump built in the bottom in the very back with 2 1/2in fittings coming out so we have plenty of feed to the filter and pump if you need the tank let me know and i can check on it for you.thanks keys dave
  9. Setback Question- How much and why?

For all around setup and everyday running i like my motor around 1 1/4 above the pad that is with the motor trimed level to the tip of the bullet and a 30 et the boat will handle great and run real good on top end. the reason mike dixon runs a setback is for other reasons as he run different gearcase's sometimes he runs a xr case and sometimes he runs a speedmaster and he has to be able to move the motor height for the different case i think that is why he runs a setback not for any speed advantage with the speedmaster you have to run the case higher and if it is bolted solid to the transon it is alot of work to move it a 1/4 in.when i get done with the testing on the q-shot i will probally look for a euro to do some experimenting with but for now i am still working with the q=shot. by the way warren duke just got his new prop and was testing and ran a personal best today at128.9 with a stock 280 so i am going to have to break the 130 mark to get him. stay tuned my prop should be here monday thanks keys dave
  10. Setback Question- How much and why?

My Hi5 runs great with 6" setback. I have not rigged any euro's so for me to say would be guessing, but these hulls have a lot of setback built in the hull the riverrocketts i have rigged witch are quite a few all ran better with no setback except one it needed some extra setback because of it's weight but for all the rest they ran better with no setback driver weight on setback i don;t think is really that big a issue the boat needs to be balanced properly i weigh 225lbs and all the rockets i have riged ran fine on the transon. my ligthing i just sold for exsample ran 127mph with a bone stock 260 powerhead my current triad ran 122.1 with a stock bridgeport and is going to run over 130 with a stock 280 powerhead and all on the transon the euro's are alittle heavier than the rockets so they will like setback but i would try to keep it close as possible and run a large dia like a 14.5 to 15 the larger the dia the more sternlift with a cleaver and thats what these boats need are sternlift they have plenty of bow lift so if you lift the stern and flaten the boat they start to go.hope this helps thanks keys dave
  11. sportmaster kilo runs feb 24th

i think there was this is a great place for this kind of thing very long straight aways and pertected from the wind we are going to try to run 130 with stock powerheads and stock sportmasters i know it sounds undoable but it is not i am 99.9 percent sure that i will break 130 and warren probally will if not very close to it andy driver will be trying as well with his t-2 q-shot with a stock 280 powerhead. i say stock as in no porting no head change you can run open box and spacer but thats it no engine mods i think andy is going to run a titis cone on his sportmaster because thats all he has so we are allowing it for him to be in it i might try his case and see if it helps over the stock sportmaster. will be taking video of this event will try to get it up after it done if i can't we will send it to someone that can i can't even put a picture on so someone will probally have to post it for me thanks keys dave
