  1. Prop Shaft Height

One inch should be plenty high with the motor bolted to the transom. From what I remember every inch of set back you raise the motor and 1/8 of an inch. So an inch high at the transom is pretty high. but should overall be pretty close
  2. Prop Shaft Height

Gonna be tough to hit it just right especially if you're gonna run drags and top end? Bob's makes a jack plate that's less than 3 inches. I run two rockets. One with a jack plate and one without. Its a champ mid which gives me around 7/8 inch to play with and I still need to move a little. But if you're determined to go straight to the boat I'd guess around one inch above.
  3. Looking for PINK & Black STV

No thats not it mine was Pink on top black on bottom 1990 ski. Drew you're right about the names of the two drivers. I thought one of them was driving a black and pink boat??? If not I'm not familiar with it.
  4. Looking for PINK & Black STV

DAMN....Mike that has always been a fear of mine. Everyear you see someone hook and the other guy usually goes right on by because he was close enough that when the boat hooked and lost so much speed the other gets by it. Have you ever seen a race where they contact??? I can't imagine making it out of that alive. I didnt actually see this race but a crowd was watching. Both drivers lived but were pretty banged up from what I remember??
  5. Looking for PINK & Black STV

Cant be too many pink and black ones?? Only one I know of was wrecked in augusta more than ten years ago. Two STV's were racing and one hooked and went thru the side of the pink and black one. I can make some calls and find out who the driver was? Never seen the boat since so I'd guess it was damaged too bad to fix??
  6. Setback Question- How much and why?

Dennis....have you ever run an xr6 case?? Just curious if you saw the same differences across the board that I did?? Which CLE were you running?? (2 hole or 4 hole) You gonna be at the get together on the 24th?? Trying to get my crowd motivated but its a long drive for us. not sure what cle dennis as run but i know they do blowout alot easyier than a sportmaster they do run good with a cone on them then you can run them up little and not worry so much about blowout i have never ran a cle on my boat i don't think it would run for shit wanted to try a xr case but have been conveinced not to by serveral people as they are a weak case and break very often and don't want to take that ride. mike you should try to come down if you want to fly in to mai or ft lauderdale i can pick you up it's only about 1.5hrs from the airport to where we are going to run let me know keys dave Thanks Dave. Pretty sure we're coming. How close to the bank will yall's runs be? Curious as to whether I need to bring a boat?? I dont think you would have a problem with an xr6 as long as you started with a good case. I run a lot of nitrous and have had only one give up. It was minor and just wouldnt stay in gear. If you do decide to run one let me know I've got a prop that was built for an xr6. Thanks again.

  8. bottom differences

The ski bottom is in my opinion about two to two and a half mph faster but you could put 100 people in them and only 3 or 4 would show you that extra speed. The mod vp is more forgiving, easier to stop, and handles better on top end.(135+) The ski gets alittle flighty. The boat that I ran 151.5 with was a mod-vp and I'm not sure if I'd have the balls to drive a ski any faster. Probably start a big argument but I believe the ski bottom is faster for drag racing. It seems to clean up faster. Maybe partly because it carries weight better.Dixon
  9. RUMBLE STV's?

I cant believe no one has responded to this post. From what I understand it sounds like STV's dominated there again. Havent really heard much on the top end runs??? I've been checking here pretty often waiting on a response.
  10. octane booster

thanks for the replys any one know were to buy TK-7 thanks. Wayne Tripp is probably more knowlegable on this than anyone ........he's tried it all and yes......TK-7 is what he uses.....
  11. Why I have a S.T.V.

here in Georgia.........17 will get you laid!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Why I have a S.T.V.

age is a matter of mind..........................if you dont mind......it dont matter!!!!!!
  13. STV race hatch

I ran the yellow boat in the upper 130's with the back seat in it and it still felt fairly stable but I ran another rocket without anything in it and it was impossible to drive above 130. I assume it had no downforce. I'm sure the fairing is faster than with the back seat but I've never measured the difference, Dixon
  14. STV race hatch

I was told that closing off the open space in the back of the Euro actually slowed it down over 3.5 mph. Not exactly sure why but it has already been done. It was done several ways and all yielded the same thing.......loss of speed. Was surprised that the fairing in a rocket doesnt help much over the back seat although is a great difference to nothing at all back there. Maybe this will save some time and work
  15. So now that Mike Dixon has crested 150mph...

Larry Mumford built the engine that's on it now and it is actually is not the strongest engine of his I've ever run. I think it's safe to say the powerhead is making a good 335 to 345 and I'm adding about 135 in NOS. I only ran a 50hp kit in Florida at the Suwannee. The difference in speed actually came from a new prop not just extra NOS. It ran around 143-145 on straight motor. I guess overall hp is between 450-500. I had another 100hp on stage 2 but the boat wasnt handling good enough to use it. Dixon.
