some times you get the bear and some times ............

the bear gets you.

Approx. 95 MPH two people in boat, foot on floor.

Notice missing prop blade and also what it did to skeg.

Also, interestingly hardly any (if any) damage to leading edge.

Had to be something right at surface.

damn gator, when did this happen. i hope it's an old pic.

maybe too much power :D

sorry to see that chit!

Did it take the whole lower unit off?

Looks like a piece of wood got caught between the prop and the skeg. It's happened to me on the Ohio River when there's trash afloat.

Where did it happen?

I feel your pain!!!

Chris

Chris, I think you're right (or it was too any HP's) on. And yeah, that's the way it came out of the water.

It was on Buckeye Lake. We think it was a 4X4. It's Spring time out there and every one is building/repairing docks.

We're guessing a short (cut off) length of 4X4 pressure treated dock post.

That sucks. Whats holding it on? Hope it didn't hit the bottom of the boat.

Glad nobody was injured. :)

Thanx

Shift shaft was only thing still attached and saving case and my new two blade prop.

O.K.

I'll be local all day tomorrow so anytime is fine. Feel free to call me (after 8 A.M.) as well if you get a hole in your shedule too.

Anthony, it broke every bolt boss out of the bottom of the mid section!

RT, not this time. Don't have the $$$. Have enough donor crap laying around the shop to rebuild to orig. condition

positive

you can line the prop up and see where the broken blade lines (and the leading edge is rolled over from hitting something) up exactly with the notch in the back of the skeg. makes a near perfect 4X4 square!

Wow, 38 posts, I was beginning to think these boats may be fast but nobody wants to talk about them. Sorry it took Gary's bad luck to get things started. I'm very glad that nobody got hurt.

Being new to owning a STV I've been watching this board and reading everything I can find about them. Is there anyway to find out if there are any STV owners in Northern Calif.

Thanks Bill

previous owner says 103 - 104 w/the 32 RE3 he gave me

motor appears to be box stock

i guess that would make a good candidate for some internal tunes :D:D

what did your old motor have done to it. and what is your plans for this one. i hope i'm not crowding you, just curious. i think you have a cool rig and i am not familiar with those refrigirators. :P

Welllllllll............was going to stay quiet about it but it just doesn't seem to be in my nature :D

Will start with better heads, intake, bigger carbs, open exhaust w/o going inside and see what I get.

(I ground on the old one)
