ENGINE WONT GO OVER 3500 RPM...HELP!

Recommended Posts

My 1996 260 hp MERC sometimes will not go over 3500 RPM. Doesnt even make it on plane with the foot throttle all the way. I let it sit for 20 - 30 mins and then try again and it goes (SOMETIMES)

Just wondering if anybody else is having the same problem, or could help in anyway?

Thanks

JT

i know this sounds far fetched, but your one pic in the

reader rides shows the engine is trimmed in sooo far.

i had a mirage and because of the angle of the jackplate

you could trim it in so it was excessively negative. it

would plane out instantly and would stall the engine if you

didnt trim it up quick. ended up with a piece of threaded

rod in the one hole of the mid so you couldnt trim

too far down.

its almost like you are trying to push the front of the

boat under water like a submarine.
