I just picked up this 96 RR with a Merc 260. Not sure of the entire history. I think it started out back east, then spent its recent years out here in CA and AZ. Anyone ever seen it before?

Lucky, that is a gorgeous STV, have you had time to run it yet? If so what kind of numbers are you getting and what weight lay-up and motor set-up? I appreciate it. Bob.

Thanks Bob, I had her out once for a shake down run. I only ran it up to 90 or so. I was told its double kevlar and kledgecell, maybe 650 lbs. There is not a stress crack on her which leads me to think it is not a llight one, which is good by me. 260 is bolted to the transom and set about 1 inch above the pad. Has a race bottom which I think is the same as a Mod VP bottom, inverted V. I expect t to run 110 with the right prop.

Have run the 32" Mercury Chopper at 106 at approx. 7k but water conditions here in Puget Sound, Tacoma, Wash., makes it hard to reach the speeds I seek. I have named her "HOT! SPOT". My nickname is Doctor D. so the RIVER ROCKET logo has been modified. Now it reads "DR. D's Rocket Ship" in the logo font.

Then I obtained a 280 hp. 2.5L and the fun started again. For a very long time I had the 110 mph barrier. Most of the time i just ran out of water before getting over the 109.6 mark. Finally was able to do it and with the 32 Chopper @ 112.6 mph.

She is red and white 4-Seater River Rocket and has the factory engraving "RACEBOAT" under the Hull ID # for whatever that is worth.
